Dear Human
Resource Manager,
I am writing to
inquire about the possibilities of becoming a working member of your landscape
management team. I will be graduating
in from The Ohio State University Landscape Horticulture program in Spring of
2003. It is your commitment and expertise in employee training that prompts my
interest in your company. Brickman’s
employee training programs provide top performance and motivation for high
quality through architectural, horticultural and arboricultural services. The opportunity to utilize my education and
enhance my expertise in sales and the human resource area with the Brickman
group is a goal focus. As the Columbus
market and landscape opportunities continue to grow and expand: I feel that my education and past experience
will enhance Brickman’s future growth as well as the expansion of
services. In this manner, I hope to
provide Brickman with an edge in Columbus’s competitive market, as well as
build a solid foundation for Green Industry leadership, advancement and
opportunity for future growth.
I feel that my
past experiences are a positive asset that could become an integral part of
your company existing and focused work ethic.
Providing clients with quality landscape design, installation and
management is one of the most satisfying accomplishments I could ask for as a
team member starting a career in Landscape Horticulture. My work at The Chadwick Arboretum,
GreenScapes and Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens have all demanded the cooperation
of being able to work well with others while demonstrating sound horticultural
practices and being flexible in learning.
Also, in the summer of 2002, I completed a course in English Constructed
Landscape at Myerscough College, England which required team based design and
installation.
My passions for
horticulture have led me to the creative aspect of landscape design. In this arena, I have successfully designed and installed two successful, custom
residential landscapes in the Akron area.
I actively seek activities outside the classroom through campus and industry
organizations. Last year I received 3rd
place in Sales and 4th place in Human Resource Management at The
Associated Landscape Contractor’s of America’s (ALCA) Student Career Days
competition in Peoria, Illinois. It
was at the previous year’s competition in Fort Collins, Colorado that David
Foresman first introduced me to your company while sitting in on his seminar to
“Sharpening your Ax” which focused on preparing to enter the job market.
I am looking
forward to discussing employment opportunities with you in the next couple of
weeks. Enclosed you will find my resume
and be confident that I would be a great addition to the Brickman Group company
team.
Sincerely,
Katherine Rice Hershey
